Dr. Mahnaz Khan was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She left the borough to attend the State University of New York at Binghamton, where she was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Philosophy in 1996. Later, Dr. Khan attended the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, earning a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with a minor in pediatrics. While pursuing her DDS, Dr. Khan participated in research projects and was selected by the school’s faculty to present her project at the prestigious Hinman Dental Meeting in Memphis, Tennessee. She was also awarded The American Society of Dentistry for Children Award and the Department of Pediatric and Community Dentistry Award, both in May 2000.

Dr. Khan continued her education, completing advanced training in pediatric dentistry at the Children’s Hospital of Buffalo. While a resident there, her training included behavior management, caring for special needs patients, sedation dentistry, hospital dentistry, and caring for traumatic dental emergencies. Dr. Khan achieved Board Certification, becoming a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry in September 2006. Since graduation, Dr. Khan has accrued an impressive amount of continuing education, including certification in oral sedation and Invisalign.

She also has training in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Basic Life Support (CPR).

In 2002, Dr. Khan returned downstate when she joined Drs. Norman Hirsch and Glen Ehrenman, who were in private practice in Westbury, NY, became partners in 2007. In 2012, she was honored to be named a Top Pediatric Dentist on Long Island by Long Island Pulse Magazine.

Dr. Khan is on the medical/dental staff at NYU Winthrop Hospital and maintains surgical privileges at both. She is also an attending doctor at Nassau University Medical Center, where she provides instruction in pediatric dentistry to dental residents enrolled in advanced education training. She is an active member and proud Fellow of the American Dental Association, Nassau County Dental Society, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, and the New York State Association of Pediatric Dentists.

Dr. Khan is passionate about community outreach and education, and she participates in the Nassau County Give Kids a Smile Day, where over 1,000 children receive a free examination. She and the Ehrenman and Khan team provide educational and fun presentations to kids at preschools and elementary schools across Nassau and Suffolk County to promote Children’s Dental Health Month. She also lectures to expectant mothers at NYU Winthrop Hospital.

After living in Mineola and Lynbrook, Dr. Khan settled in Rockville Centre with her husband, Michael, and their three boys, Harris, Ryan, and Aiden. In her free time, she enjoys baking, reading, and hitting the beach. She also spends a lot of time at sporting events with her children and loves trying new things like sailing, hiking, and visiting national parks as a family.
